About us
AMES – Association for Medical Education in Syria
AMES is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Syria, dedicated to transforming and elevating the standards of health professions education in Syria. We recognize the urgent need for reform in a country where access to high-quality, evidence-based medical education is often limited by systemic challenges, conflict, and resource scarcity.
Our Mission
To inspire excellence, social equity, and scholarship across the continuum of health professions education in Syria. . Through innovative programs, policy advocacy, and capacity building, we aim to foster an environment where knowledge is shared, voices are heard, and reforms are driven by evidence and empathy.

To build a resilient, evidence-driven, and inclusive health professions education system in Syria that champions the principles of equity, diversity, and belonging (EDB).

We collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders committed to transforming medical and health professions education in Syria, including:
Faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health professions
Teaching hospitals, clinical educators, and academic staff
Health education policymakers, accreditation authorities, and academic leaders
NGOs, advocacy networks, and international academic institutions working to strengthen medical education systems in conflict and post-conflict settings

Scientific Content and Curriculum Committee
Develops AMES’s educational resources, training sessions, and evidence-based learning materials. Responsible for:
- Designing workshops and educational modules
- Producing instructional content and educational videos
- Collaborating with educators to align with modern pedagogical standards
