Seminars & Webinars
AMES organizes and curates monthly in-person and online seminars, webinars, and academic discussions on pressing issues in health professions education. These sessions bring together educators, researchers, and policymakers to share insights, challenge assumptions, and advance practice—both in Syria and across the region. Topics range from curriculum reform and clinical teaching to accreditation, faculty development, and beyond. All are welcome to attend.
MedEd Debates is AMES’ flagship discussion series that brings critical and often controversial issues in medical and health professions education to the forefront. Featuring diverse voices—from students and educators to policymakers—the debates are designed to challenge dominant narratives, foster open dialogue, and generate practical solutions tailored to the Syrian context. Sessions are held regularly online and archived for wider access. You can watch MedEd Debates on Instagram & Youtube
Monthly live debates Each month, AMES hosts live online debates on critical and often provocative questions in health professions education. Past topics have included: Can AI replace doctors? Should publication be a condition for PhD admission? and Does Syria lack true medical education experts? These sessions feature diverse, often opposing viewpoints and are followed by open audience engagement. The goal is to challenge assumptions, foster critical discourse, and inform context-sensitive reform.
